Peter Weygandt – Peter has been an importer of French wines for over 21 years and has gained a national and international reputation for the quality of his selections and his portfolio of top “boutique” French wines. He has been mentioned in articles in Time magazine, The New York Times, and featured in Business Monthly and numerous times in various wine publications, most recently Food and Wine magazine. In recent years he has expanded his portfolio to include Italian, German, Austrian and Spanish wines.
Todd Ross – Weygandt Wines is the culmination of co-proprietor Todd’s past twenty years of work. Starting as a salesperson for Mills Wine & Spirits in Annapolis, Maryland, he eventually was promoted to general manager and principal buyer for the company. Along the way, Todd produced the very successful quarterly Mills sales brochure/catalog, organized monthly wine tasting events and developed the both the Mills website and e-comerce site. At the end of his tenure, Mills Wine & Spirits was recognized by Washingtonian Magazine as the “Best of Fine Wine Shops in Maryland.”
Todd has toured and tasted with key winemakers across France, in Roussillon, Champagne, Bordeaux, Provence, Luberon, Bandol, Corbières, Minervois, Languedoc, Beaujolais, the Mâconnais, Chablis, Alsace, and the major appellations of the Loire Valley, with numerous visits to Burgundy’s Côte-d’Or region and the Rhône Valley. In California, Todd has explored the Napa Valley, Santa Cruz Mountains, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rita Hills, San Louis Obispo, and Paso Robles wine districts. He has traversed Spain, too, visiting top producers in Jarez, Rueda, Ribera del Duero, Rioja, Montsant and Priorat.
In 2006 and 2007, he produced the Côte-d’Or: Burgundy Wine Tours in conjunction with Martin & Keegan Tours, LLC, along with some key suppliers. In 2008, Todd produced a third travel event, Provence: Southern Rhone Valley Wine Tour, which connected his customers to artisan wine producers. This bond between wine drinker and winemaker is at the heart of the Weygandt Wines experience.
His interests do not end with drinking great wine and travelling to idyllic vineyards. Todd authored two published works of historical non-fiction, The Supercommandos, First Special Service Force, 1942-1944, An Illustrated History (2000), and U.S. Army Rangers and Special Forces of World War II (2002). In 2001, he was the principal historical consultant and contributor to Digital Ranch’s production of Dangerous Missions: Episode 38, The Black Devils, filmed on location in Helena, Montana for The History Channel. Todd was also a contributor to Northern Sky Entertainment, Ltd.’s production of Daring To Die: The Story of the Devil’s Brigade (2004), and Frantic Films’ production of The Devil’s Brigade (2006), a four-episode miniseries for Canada’s History Television.
Matthew Stintz – After graduating from culinary school, Matt spent some time cooking California. he worked for three years at Mille Fleur in Rancho Santa Fe and four years at Terra in St. Helena. After returning east, he started getting interested in wine, and has spent the past 10 years working in the wine business.
Tim O’Rourke – Another former chef, Tim graduated from L’Academie de Cuisine in Maryland in 2000. With tours at Washington, DC mainstays Café Atlántico, Ristorante Tosca and Michel Richard Citronelle, he cultivated his cooking and tastes under the watchful eyes of renowned chefs José Andrés, Cesare Lanfranconi and Michel Richard. It was during these 6 years that Tim first developed a taste for wine. Special events at The Beard House in New York, NY and a 55th birthday celebration for Michel Richard, with guest star chefs such as Thomas Keller and Eric Ripert, continued his education.
In 2006, while working for acclaimed caterer, Susan Gage Caterers, Tim cooked for Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate Legendary 100 Point Wine Weekend, alongside celebrity chefs Daniel Boulud, Alain Dutournier and Nancy Oakes as well Washington D.C.’s own Michel Richard, Eric Ziebold and Frank Ruta. (The incredible list of wines served that weekend can be found here.) Maybe while tasting a 1989 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Montrachet, or a 1982 Château Cheval Blanc, or perhaps a 1975 Château d’Yquem, Tim honed his taste in finer wines and first began to truly understand the importance of pairing wine with food.
So come in and bring up anything related to your palette. The idea of talking about food and wine all day long is what brought Tim to Weygandt Wines in the first place.
